New Quilter #4 Window Pane 9 Patch
Hi Ladies,
I am going to create a pole here because I need to know what you would like to do. For the September/October New Quilter Block Exchange, we will be making the Window Pane Disappearing 9 patch that Jenny demonstrates in her video here Video
What this pole is for is to determine the theme of the fabrics.
1. Batiks - Any color with a black sashing
2. Small Christmas Red and Green prints with a white sashing
3. Scrappy - Anything goes with black sashing
4. Patriotic with White sashing
I will leave this pole open for a month.
Susan
Re: New Quilter #4 Window Pane 9 Patch
Thanks Susan!! Darn I couldn't pick more than one :-( Love 1st the black sashing on batiks, then #2 due to time of year the Christmas fabrics to help get some things done before Holiday's - then #3 Scrappy of course
uh gosh .. Glad 2 of those are fav's
Re: New Quilter #4 Window Pane 9 Patch
I went with the scrappy with black... I don't have a lot of batiks and they are sooooo expensive!! Just thinking of everyone who has to stay on a budget..
Re: New Quilter #4 Window Pane 9 Patch
I love anything patriotic, have to go with that one.
Re: New Quilter #4 Window Pane 9 Patch
I understand budgets, but I also have to consider what is the popular vote.
Joann's sells Batiks and sometimes you can get them on sale. You can also start using your 40% off coupons and buy one or two cuts every time you get a new coupon. I get mine in the flyers, the computer, the web site and my phone, so there are plenty of 40% off coupons out there. Also my Joanns will accept Hobby Lobby coupons, so there is another one right there! :) Just got to get creative and think outside the box :)
Re: New Quilter #4 Window Pane 9 Patch
Sorry, I wanted to get the most popular vote and several votes kinda muddies the result. I will be doing more of these New Quilter block exchanges and I will put up a pole for each. We shall see what happens :)

Re: New Quilter #4 Window Pane 9 Patch
I chose batiks with black sashing - I think it will be easier to put together, since batiks are easier to match to each other. I can't wait to join this group - windowpane is on my to do list, so a swap sounds like so much fun!
Re: New Quilter #4 Window Pane 9 Patch
I chose scrappy...leaves more room to play with colors and use up the scraps!
Re: New Quilter #4 Window Pane 9 Patch
I chose batiks with black sashing because we've already done a scrappy D9P with black this year in January, patriotic tumblers and we are doing Christmas log cabin in August. I would like to do something different and use up all of those beautiful batik charms that we swapped earlier in the year.
Re: New Quilter #4 Window Pane 9 Patch
I like anything Christmas, and went for that one.

Ya know, I forgot that we had swapped the batiks earlier this year, this would be a perfect choice! Time will tell.
Re: New Quilter #4 Window Pane 9 Patch
Looks like the Batiks are winning!
Re: New Quilter #4 Window Pane 9 Patch
I just have one tiny question. If choosing the batiks is there going to be a rule about what black to use? Just like whites, blacks are all different too. I never joined a block swap so I was curious :)
Re: New Quilter #4 Window Pane 9 Patch
HI Lorie, Good question! And the answer is yes, there will be a specific black. I like Kona Black. It is easily obtainable at any quilt shop that I have ever been into and is reasonably priced so as not to break the fabric bank (unlike the batiks will do)
I will be putting up the group after the poll closes to make sure that we have the popular vote.
Here is a question for all of you, it is almost neck and neck with the scrappy and black. Would you like me to have two swaps at the same time, one for batiks and one for scrappy?

They also accept michaels and hancocks coupons.

more the better.... Let's get quilting!!!!
Re: New Quilter #4 Window Pane 9 Patch
I will posting this group on or about the 12th of August. Currently I have running "Into the Light" mystery quilt, Christmas Log cabin - New Quilter #3 (that needs lots more players) and 4 fabric swaps (two that are currently in progress).
I think this one is on my schedule to sign up by September 15, so there is still plenty of time for me to post it and you to sign up for it. Please don't purchase fabric for this swap as it has not even been posted yet and I will have no idea how many blocks we will be making (unless you really find a good deal on batiks)
Here is the schedule for the rest of this year and into 2014
